Farewell to Renae Liddell
1 September 2012

After 5 years in the UK it is Renae’s husband’s turn to live abroad! Renae is moving back to Australia with her family in time for the birth of her second child. Renae, our Decontamination Assistant, has been instrumental in helping us to upgrade our decontamination processes, ensuring that we maintain rigorous cleanliness and infection control throughout the practice at all times. We wish Renae every happiness back in Australia and look forward to hearing about the newest member of the family in due course.

Farewell to Ellen Hurst
16 August 2012

After more than 9 years with Charlbury Dental Practice, Dental Nurse Ellen Hurst is moving on to pastures new and returning to college for more studies. We shall miss her and wish her the best of luck in facing new challenges.

Tea and cakes for Marie Curie
1 August 2012

We are delighted to report that through our “Blooming Great Tea Party” we have raised more than £220 for Marie Curie Cancer Care – enough to pay for a day’s hospital care. We were delighted to welcome so many tea party guests to our practice; they included patients and friends of the practice, members of the public and representatives of local businesses, including our neighbours in the Spendlove Centre.

This is turning into an annual event for us – make sure you don’t miss out next time!

Summer Newsletter
24 June 2012

Look out for our Summer Newsletter, published today, telling you about events at Charlbury Dental Practice and giving tips about how to keep smiling with confidence.

These include tips on budgeting for your dental care, preventive measures that you can take easily to keep your mouth healthy, and an introduction to the range of problems that our dental team can help to solve.

Distinction for Dentist Kam!

Congratulations to Kam on being awarded a Diploma with Distinction in Implant Dentistry.  Kam has been following a 4-year postgraduate course at the Eastman Dental Institute (EDI) at University College London. EDI is an International Centre of Excellence in Dentistry and renowned for being at the forefront of evidence-based clinical service, research and development, and education in the oral health care sciences.

Kam’s qualifications and expertise enable us to bring implant dentistry into our everyday practice and to extend the treatment options available to our patients.

22 May 2012

With Kam Patel joining the practice and our support team back to full strength, we are able to offer more appointments and would be delighted to welcome new patients. Or, if you have been wondering about any of our cosmetic treatments, then why not give as a call and make an appointment now to discuss the options suitable for you?

Granny Mary!
13 May 2012

Exciting news this weekend as Mary Robson, our Practice Principal, became a grandmother. Baby Robson weighed in at 7lbs 10 oz on Saturday, 12th May. Congratulations to proud first-time parents, George and Lucy.

Congratulations Kate!
1 May 2012

Congratulations to our Dental Nurse, Kate Worton, on the birth of Daniel who weighed in at 7lbs 3oz on 29th April. Kate is on maternity leave for the rest of the year in order to spend as much time as possible with Daniel and daughter, Daisy.

Dental implants
1 February 2012

Since Kam Patel has joined the team, we are able to offer implants to our patients. Kam has been keeping at the forefront of developments in this area, undertaking a 4-year course in Implant Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital.

Implants can provide an excellent long-lasting solution for patients with missing teeth and for many provide a welcome alternative to dentures.

Fluoride varnish prevents decay
23 January 2012

Emma Mortimer, one of our most experienced dental nurses, has successfully completed a course at the Oxford Deanery's Dental School which qualifies her to apply fluoride varnish to the teeth of both adults and children. This qualification is a recent innovation from the Department of Health, aimed at prevention of dental decay and treating small, early cavities in children, hopefully so that fillings can be avoided altogether.

Watch the website and displays in the waiting room for more information from Emma on this exciting new approach to dental care for your child!

A new dentist
20 January 2012

We are delighted to welcome a new Dentist to the practice. Dr Kamini (Kam) Patel is moving to Charlbury from South London. Kam followed in Mary Robson's footsteps, gaining her dental qualification from Kings College London in 1997 and holding a hospital post there before entering General Practice.

Kam is taking the place of Michael who is moving on to pastures new after more than 20 years with Charlbury Dental Practice. We will miss him but are excited about the opportunities ahead for us all.

Focus on cleanliness
5 December 2011

At Charlbury Dental Practice cleanliness is paramount and we take all possible measures to guard against cross-infection. We have completely upgraded our decontamination facility and appointed a Decontamination Nurse. Renae Liddell joins the team to manage our new facility and takes on sterilising and support duties to assist our team of Registered Dental Nurses. One of our Dental Nurses, Emma Mortimer, has this week successfully completed an updating course in Infection Control.

New CQC (Care Quality Commission) registration has been successfully achieved!
10 June 2011

We're really pleased to announce that we have successfully achieved CQC registration. The aims of the CQC are to ensure all providers of health and social care operate to a single consistent set of standards and to offer service users a single information source about providers.

A dentist must comply with CQC outcomes for all of its service types. The more complex the dental practice the more detailed the outcomes that are likely to apply.

The CQC has set out 16 main registration requirements:
