Updated COVID-19 Patient Journey for Lockdown 3.0

Dear Patient,

Following the Government’s latest Lockdown 3.0 announcement, we would like to reassure you that the Charlbury Dental Practice remains open and is providing dental care according to current guidelines to all our patients.

What next?

You are actively encouraged to keep your dental appointments to reduce the risk of requiring emergency care. The first Lockdown and absence of continuous oral health care lead to a huge surge in emergency service provision, disrupting maintenance for routine attenders.

Lockdown 3.0 is different from the previous lockdowns.

Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, our Practice had always adhered to the rigorous cross infection procedures set out by the governing bodies and our team members were highly trained in all aspects of cross infection control.  However, in the last 9 months we have made an enormous effort and we have invested very heavily to further enhance your and our team members’ safety.

As opposed to the earlier stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, PPE is widely available now and health care workers are being tested on a regular basis.

Kam, Lesley and Sam

Our Team has revised the Covid-19 Patient Journey and has specifically updated it for Lockdown 3.0. We are now proudly setting a new standard for safe patient care.

Please do not be concerned about attending your appointments as we have all the required, and even more safety measures implemented to ensure your and our staff members health and safety.

Should you have any questions regarding your dental care at the Charlbury Dental Practice, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Best wishes,

Dr Kam Patel BDS MFGDP(UK) Dip.Imp.Dent

Supporting our Patients during COVID-19

Dear Patient,

More than seven weeks have passed since we had to seize the provision of routine treatment at Charlbury Dental Practice, as dental practices across the country joined the fight against the spread of COVID-19. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you wholeheartedly for the many kind messages of support and concern for the team’s well-being.

We know that this decision has meant changes to your scheduled dental appointments and treatments; but also to the way dental emergencies will be dealt with during our temporary closure.

We are, therefore, getting in touch with you to reassure you that our staff are working and are here to help if required. If you are concerned about a dental issue or you are in need of urgent dental care, please read our guide on how to deal with dental emergencies. We have also put together tips on how to manage non-urgent dental problems at home. In addition, our social media channels are regularly updated with news from the practice as well as oral health advice. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more details.

The team are keeping occupied with taking calls from patients, online learning and preparations for our return to practising dentistry. It has been a pleasure to receive calls from our patients and to be able to help and keep in touch. It is utterly bizarre to be providing ‘teledentistry’ but this is all in the hope that we can keep our patients and team safe and well.

We wanted to extend our heartfelt thanks to you for your patience, understanding and support at this difficult time. We cannot know how soon we will be returning to normal practice operations, but we can assure you that we are here to assist you if needed until then.

As we continue our collective efforts with the knowledge that we are aiding thousands of inspirational frontline staff who are working tirelessly to save the lives of people affected by the coronavirus.

We wish you all good health.

Best wishes,

Dr Kam Patel BDS MFGDP(UK) Dip.Imp.Dent

Alternatively, please call NHS 111 for an up to date list of URGENT DENTAL CARE CENTERS.

COVID-19 Temporary Closure

Sadly we are having to lay down our tools for now.

Due to unprecedented circumstances with the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the provision of routine dentistry at the Charlbury Dental Practice.

The safety, health and well-being of our patients, our team and the wider community is most important to us. We are all being asked to stay at home to avoid the spread of the virus and to protect the elderly and vulnerable.

Postponing all routine appointments

In keeping with the latest government guidance, all routine appointments have been now suspended. When it is safe for us to operate normally again, we will be rearranging or confirming your new appointments.

Urgent Care for our patients

Ensuring you are cared for is a duty that the whole practice team takes very seriously. While we want to be there for you, current guidelines have made dramatic changes to the provision of safe emergency care.

We are very sorry to find ourselves in this position as we never want any of our patients to be left in pain. Please do not put yourself, or anyone else at any unnecessary risk. If you’re experiencing a problem and you’re not sure whether it requires an emergency appointment, please follow these instructions:

  • Assuming you have not got COVID-19 related symptoms, you should call Kam on 07956 578 615
(9 am – 5 pm) or email reception@charlburydental.co.uk and she will triage you and decide where you are best seen with the appropriate safety risk assessment or safeguarding considerations.
  • Whatsapp/Skype consultation is available where necessary.
  • If you believe or know you have COVID-19 and have a dental emergency, please phone NHS 111.
  • Non- registered patients should ring their own dentist or if unregistered then NHS 111.

We look forward to seeing you under better circumstances. If you have any non-urgent questions, please do email us.

Best wishes,

Kam Patel BDS MFGDP(UK) Dip.Imp.Dent
